Join us for the fourth webinar introducing CLCplus Core: The EAGLE barcoding method

The EAGLE barcoding approach is a characterization exercise to semantically describe given class definitions. It is done by combining class-relevant elements (Land Cover Components (LCC), Land Use Attributes (LUA), and Land Characteristics (LCH)) from the EAGLE matrix and populate them with bar code values. In the context of CLCplus Core, the barcoding method is installed as the operational mechanism for a practical, machine-readable coding system for thematic content. The barcoding results of these matrix elements allow heterogeneous national and European datasets to be ingested, harmonised, and made comparable within CLCplus Core.

This webinar explains the syntax and construction of the EAGLE barcoding method and details how attributes from diverse source datasets are semantically encoded using standardised and hierarchically structured EAGLE elements to enable interoperability, consistency, and comparability across data sources within CLCplus Core and beyond.

Participants will see a live demonstration of the barcoding process applied to a real dataset, illustrating how source data is ingested and converted into a fully EAGLE-coded CLCplus Core entry.
