2nd Webinar Introducing CLCplus Core: The LULUCF Instance

The Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) sector covers emissions and removals of greenhouse gases resulting from direct human-induced land use, land-use change and forestry activities. Carbon is sequestered by forestry and grassland, while carbon losses occur on existing cropland and natural lands (e.g. grassland) which are converted to cropland or settlement.

The CLCplus LULUCF Instance draws on multiple land use and land cover datasets ingested and harmonised through the CLCplus Core platform to provide spatial information on the six LULUCF land use categories (forest land, cropland, grassland, wetlands, settlements, and other land). The resulting thematic map can be used to support EU Member States’ annual greenhouse gas reporting obligations under the LULUCF Regulation.

The webinar will briefly introduce the LULUCF regulatory framework and showcase how the LULUCF Instance can support monitoring and reporting of emissions and removals through a practical example.

When

June 3rd, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM

Time Zone: Copenhagen, Denmark

The event is open to anyone interested in these specific land cover topics but will be catering to those considering working with the data.
